Siva Sripalan (Home Proprietor)

Siva is also a Policy Advisor for the Cabinet Office in Central Government. 

Siva has two years of experience working as a Clinical Admin Officer for Barnet Intermediate Healthcare Services. His experience working for the National Health Service includes coordinating adult hospital discharges and putting in home care plans with Barnet Social Care Direct.

The Home is fortunate to have a professional and caring team of staff to care for the 18 residents.

Mrs Julie Ward is a qualified nurse and has been the Care Manager at the Laurels since 2009. Julie has over 25 years experience in elderly care and is also qualified to D32/D33 NVQ Assessor and LMC4 Management.

Mrs Karen Drenthe is a Registered General Nurse, has been the Matron of the Laurels since 1997  and is directly responsible for resident care. Karen also has a Diploma in Management, a Training Champion Award, D32/D33 NVQ Assessor and a Teaching Certificate.

Miss Emma Baylis is the Office Administrator and Activities Coordinator and deputises for the manager in her absence. Emma has many years experience working in a care environment, both as a carer and an administrator.

The Laurels employs a dedicated team of carers, cooks and domestic staff, all trained and experienced in their area of work.

There are five senior carers all qualified to Level 3 NVQ/QCF in Care with many years experience between them, who deputise for Matron when required.

Our carers are all qualified to minimum Level 2 NVQ/QCF in care or are presently studying for the award.

Our senior cook has an Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene and Nutrition. All other staff (including carers) have a minimum of Level 2 in Food Hygiene.

All staff attend regular training courses throughout the year in relation to their roles, including Manual Handling, Dementia Care, Medication Administration, First Aid, Fire Prevention, COSHH and many others based around elderly care.

Some of the senior staff are also studying for or have achieved certificates in care management and business.

Two staff members have also trained to become Dementia Champions,in order to raise awareness of the condition and cascade this knowledge to other staff.

Hari Shanmugarajah (Home Proprietor) 

Hari is an experienced Care Provider and Team Leader running another Care Home in Kent, with over a year of experience. He is also NVQ Level 5 qualified in Health & Social Care. 

 

Ceri Lewis1

Ceri Lewis - Care Administrator
Ceri has a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons)(Adult) degree and continues to be a Registered General Nurse.

Ceri has 10 years experience working within the care sector, including previously working as a Carer within the Home, working within Cwm Taff Morgannwg University Health Board as a HealthCare Assistant, 5 years as a practicing Registered General Nurse, a Clinical Auditor, a Clinical Administration Officer, bringing a variety of skills to her current post at the Home as Care Administrator.
